Oshawa Jazz and Blues Festival has new producer

The Oshawa Jazz and Blues Festival has a new owner/producer. Becky Choquette of Springboard Music and Events has taken the helm of the Oshawa Jazz and Blues Festival. The 7th annual Oshawa Jazz and Blues Festival is scheduled to take place at various venues across the city of Oshawa from August 4th to 10th, 2008.
Ms. Choquette�s experience managing the 2007 festival will allow her to transition into her new role nicely, says Kerri King, founder of the Oshawa Jazz and Blues Festival. Since King took on her new position as tourism manager at the Region of Durham, she is divesting her interest in all events formerly produced by her production company Eclipse Concerts Inc. Becky’s energy, enthusiasm and passion for live music make her the perfect candidate to take the festival to a whole new level, adds King.
The Oshawa Jazz and Blues Festival started in 2001 as part of a downtown revitalization strategy and together with the support of The City of Oshawa, Downtown Oshawa Board of Management and a host of supporters from the local business community has been built into Oshawa’s premiere summer music event drawing thousands of people from Durham Region and beyond into Oshawa for a week each summer.
I am extremely excited to be the new producer and look forward to working with our community partners to build on the current momentum of the festival, said Becky Choquette. Springboard Music and Events is currently seeking volunteers, interested community partners and local musicians to participate in the 2008 event.
